Filming: Day 1

Today's filming went pretty well, we completed quite a few shots, but we faced a few problems in the beginning.
We asked quite a few people to come along to the event and recieved quite a few "maybe's" but in the end we only had two zombies arrive, and ended up having to drag our Potterhead Nerd Tayla to drag her brother along as he was nearby. Due to the lack of people, we decided to do something similar to what the Foo Fighters did in their Learning To Fly music video where the band plays everyone in the video. We have Micheal and Ethan playing the two main zombies while Peta, Tayla, Matt and I constantly change between Nerd and Zombie. Tomorrow we may have 2 more zombies, but I am not too sure.
We have filmed almost all of the scenes where there is one-on-one battle between Zombies and Nerds. We started off with Tayla in her Harry Potter cosplay, then Peta in her 11th Doctor cosplay. We got majority of My scenes done, but have a couple left, so we are doing thoses and all of Matt's ones tomorrow.
It is going to be a little tricky to do the shots where we have multiple Nerds and Zombies, due to our lack of numbers, but we should be fine.
We also forgot to put the glasses on Peta and I's characters, so that's a little dilemma. But the glasses aren't too important. We'll just make sure that Tayla keeps hers on and Matt wears his.
Also, as Millie didn't send us her shot list before the film date, I had to write up a quick end scene shot list on the way to filming. Shae is writing up the first scene's shot list as well tonight, but we won't need it until tomorrow.
The way that we are dealing with the filming means that it will take a little longer than expected, but we should be able to get it done... Hopefully.

More Make Up Stuff... Because I Can

Yeah... He's having fun with this...
But these trials of the Zombie make up give off a more authentic feel, like the flesh is actually rotting off. Our zombies are going to look pretty awesome!

Scar... Well, Cut and Bite Make Up

Our scar make up artist has been messing around with his latex and other stuff and here is one of his trial runs for the bite's that all zombies are going to have (how else is the infection going to spread!?), and the gash that a few will be honored with.

It looks pretty good! He's going to be blending the edges a bit more, as at the moment you can still see the latex, and we will have rotting zombie flesh in no time! 

The Creation of the Death Note and Chemical "X"

The Death Note 

Here are some images from when I was making the Death Note. it is now ready for use and if you touch it you might even see a Shinigami! I haven't seen one yet, but maybe they're still in the Shinigami realm.

Chemical "X"

This is the design for the Chemical "X" sticker. It has a "Z" hidden in it so that a small group of government scientists that are working on the top secret project will be able to recognise the chemical as chemical "Z" for zombies, but others that aren't in the secret circle will just believe it is chemical "X", what they are being told is the new trial run for a cure of some form of cancer.

Some Dilemmas

We have found out that Hannah and Millie won't be able to come along to the filming days, which is fine because we were prepared for that already. Unfortunately we have lost our Nerd, Courtney, who was the "Star Wars Fangirl" which put us in a bit of a pickle, but Shae and I have decided that I will take Courtney's place, which will be fine. Quite a few of our zombies haven't confirmed that they are coming, which is quite annoying, so we will just have to work with whoever is there on the day.
Shae and I are currently dealing with the creation of the shot list for the first scene that takes place before the music begins, and we should be done soon. We are still waiting for Millie's shot list, but she has had a camp on for the past week and hasn't been able to send it yet.
Other than that, we are ready!

Shot List (The "Epic" fight scene)

Here is my completed shot list for the fight scene between the Nerds and the Zombies in the times 1:48 - 2:42. Yes, I do realise that it goes 1 second over if you add the time together, but that is because i added an FX bit in shot 20. This shot will most likely take less than 1 second, but I couldn't put it in the last shot, and it needed a time next to it.

Woo!

So far we are almost ready to film.
The set location has been figured out, we will be swapping between Shae and her cousins house for filming. Shae and I went and bought the last things that we needed for filming a couple days ago, so we just need to make sure that the other things are brought in by the extras.
We have decided that our head make up artists are Matt and Peta, as Matt can do scar make up and Peta wanted to do the zombie make up, so on the day, they are coming early to do Hannah and I's make up, to show us what they are doing so that we can help out and get through everyone faster.
We currently have approximately 20 zombies, which is useful incase people can't come on the day.
Our nerds are set, but Peta is no longer able to make her sword, so we will either have to find her a new weapon or go out and buy one. The Death Note has been created, so we now only need one more weapon.
We are all quite excited for this, and hopefully it will go smoothly.

Zombies (you know that you've been waiting for this)

Here are some designs for zombie make up that we may be able to tweak and use for our music video.

Costume designs so far

These are the general costume designs for the nerds and locations of the bites for the zombies. The cast can choose which costume they would prefer to wear, but I don't think Matt will go for the skirt. Also the design for the zombies makeup is currently being tweaked as the one on here was just a rough idea for where their bites will be and the Light costume is supposed to have a tie... I just accidentally rubbed it out. The I can't get the femme version of Luke to look nerdy enough (hence why she currently looks like a cheerleader), so that needs to be tweaked as well.

Song Split

As part of our task we are required to storyboard a part of our music video each. Our group has decided to split our video into five parts. The first is set before the music starts, this we shall be storyboarding together as we still haven't decided what to place in it. The song will then be split so that each member of the group has 54 seconds to storyboard each as the song goes for 3:34 seconds and that was as close to an even split as we could get.

Music videos

Our latest task is to create a full length music video using the skills that we have acquired over the course of our time in media.

I am in a group with Hannah, Shae and Millie and we have chosen to create a video with comedy and horror as it's main genre. 

Our chosen song is T.N.T by AC/DC and will be played throughout the video (with the exception of the first and possibly last few seconds). 

The main concept is that a group of nerds will go to their first party/club and a chemical that spreads the zombie infection will somehow make it's way into all of the alcohol, leaving the nerds unaffected as they will only be drinking sodas. They will then realise what has happened and hide in fear before gaining the courage to fight their way out of the club/house bring grab weapons from their back pack (they're nerds! of course they would have brought a backpack along!). They will then begin to fight the zombies back and the weapons that they have will work just as they are supposed to in their original shows/movies (so we can use a death note). The nerds will fight their way out of the place and then walk out into the open trying to walk like the "cool heroes" in movies do when they leave a building, before the zombies start to stumble out of the door. seeing this, the nerds will run off screaming.

We plan to use comic book style editing in our video, a lot like the one used in Avril Lavigne's music video for her song Rock N Roll.

It is going to be quite a challenge to do this video but I am quite excited to start the filming and editing for this project so we have dived straight into planning. We plan to film in the holidays so that we can have everyone there at once and also so that we don't interrupt anyone's classes and have enough time to sort out the zombies.
